Elements and Performance Criteria
- Prepare for cable modification and cutover
- 1.1 Obtain relevant legislation, codes, regulations, client practices, manufacturer's guidelines and standards for for the job.
- Obtain project plan from appropriate personnel and use plan to scope work for job
- Arrange for access to worksite, according to local government or other authority requirements
- Inspect site to develop a work health and safety (WHS) plan and notify appropriate personnel of identified safety hazards
- Determine cable route and type of cable from project plan, taking into account the location of other services
- Obtain required plant, tools, safety equipment and materials
- Prepare detailed plan of cut over tasks according to project plan, job scope, legislative and other requirements, and obtain necessary approvals
- Notify client and network carrier of proposed cutover activity and proposed disruption to services that may impact on their service level agreements (SLAs)
- Undertake additional preparatory non-jointing work, as required, according to client practices and site conditions
- Joint and cut over cable
- Prepare cabinet, joint enclosure and jointing chambers for cable handling, entry and sealing requirements
- Joint cable according to jointing sequence, materials, connectors and joint type, location, client practices and manufacturer’s guidelines
- Test cable for performance and rectify cutover faults relating to cutover according to location, materials available and client practices, and record test results for future reference
- Seal all joints according to cable type, location, client practices and manufacturer’s guidelines
- Clean up worksite and complete documentation
