Elements and Performance Criteria

1. Investigate the knowledge management system
   • Review the structure of the existing knowledge management system, and develop an understanding of its operation
   • Interview the client and staff to determine information requirements
   • Identify frequently requested information
   • Create a structure for organising that information
   • Document the structure and forward to the appropriate person for approval
2. Create a knowledge management system
   • Retrieve the identified information
   • Organise information to follow the approved structure
   • Document the information structure
3. Distribute and monitor knowledge management system documentation
   • Distribute knowledge management system documentation to the client and staff
   • Gather feedback from the client and staff, and incorporate into improving systems and processes
   • Monitor the use of the knowledge management system to determine its effectiveness
   • Make changes to the knowledge management system
   • Make knowledge management system documentation available
   • Implement and monitor process improvements

Performance Evidence

Evidence of the ability to:

monitor existing knowledge management systems

implement strategies to improve a new, or existing, knowledge management system.

Note: If a specific volume or frequency is not stated, then evidence must be provided at least once.
