Elements and Performance Criteria

1. Design documents to meet organisational needs
   • Determine basic design guidelines and requirements
   • Select appropriate application software
   • Use application software to design and configure document templates for use in a business environment
2. Use application software to develop documents
   • Use application software as per specifications to develop documents
   • Access, retrieve, manipulate and save document files
   • Amend designs according to organisational requirements
   • Store documents for wider access and editing as required
3. Evaluate and incorporate feedback
   • Obtain document sign-off from appropriate person
   • Incorporate feedback and update document

Performance Evidence

Evidence of the ability to:

produce a workplace document using a range of features

develop several workplace documents with minimal instruction on their design from end user or supervisor.

Note: If a specific volume or frequency is not stated, then evidence must be provided at least once.

Knowledge Evidence

To complete the unit requirements safely and effectively, the individual must:

identify features of application packages

explain current business practices related to preparing organisational documents

recognise industry standard input and output devices

identify organisational documentation and style guides

identify organisational storage and retrieval procedures.
