Elements and Performance Criteria

1. Analyse and plan the implementation of industry specific technologies
   • Identify technologies specific to an industry sector
   • Acquire industry specific technologies and analyse their relevance to organisational requirements
   • Plan the implementation of industry specific technologies where appropriate for the benefit of the organisation
2. Manage the application of industry specific technology to assist in solving specific organisational problems
   • Manage the testing of industry specific technology
   • Manage the implementation of specific features and functions of industry specific technology to provide a suitable solution to an identified problem
   • Demonstrate depth of knowledge of enabling technologies to an accepted industry standard
   • Access and use sources of information relating to the industry specific technology
3. Review, analyse and evaluate industry specific technology performance
   • Analyse implementation of the industry specific technology for performance and usability
   • Review and evaluate the benefits to the organisation
   • Determine environmental considerations involved with using the technology
   • Seek feedback from users where appropriate

Performance Evidence

Evidence of the ability to:

analyse and critically evaluate features and functions of identified industry specific technologies to an industry standard

manage the implementation of new and emerging industry specific technologies

review the performance of the industry specific technologies for the organisation.

Knowledge Evidence

To complete the unit requirements safely and effectively, the individual must:

describe the trends and applications of current vendor products and technologies

outline the various techniques for gathering information

discuss the current directions of information and communications technology (ICT) and specifically of the major industry technology standards used in the specified area

summarise the general features, capabilities and application of current industry hardware and software products.
