Elements and Performance Criteria
- Establish site facilities for road maintenance and construction
- Work is planned and programmed to be undertaken in accordance with drawings, specifications and other documentation.
- Work site is prepared and maintained in a safe condition in accordance with OHS requirements and regulations of other accredited authorities.
- Traffic control is planned at job site and signed in accordance with relevant Australian Standards.
- Underground and overhead obstructions and other utility services are identified.
- Appropriate signage is selected, established and maintained at work site.
- Construct appropriate pits and manholes
- Construct roads and pavements
- Site is set out, cleared and prepared
- Earthworks are undertaken and the sub-grade prepared.
- Construction materials are spread and compacted using appropriate plant, equipment , materials and construction.
- Pavement surface for construction of wearing surface using either a bitumen seal or asphalt surface.
- Pavement markings are applied and signs, safety rails and markers are erected as specified.
- Maintain roads and pavements
- Surface is set out and prepared for resealing/patching or other maintenance activities.
- Levelling tasks are carried out where necessary using appropriate plant and equipment.
- Materials used to maintain the pavement are prepared correctly using appropriate tools and equipment.
- Repairs on road pavement, kerb and channel, potholes, sealing and asphalt overlays are made using appropriate tools, plant and equipment.
- Subsurface and surface open drains are maintained, repaired and cleared where necessary.
- Trees and shrubs are trimmed or removed and weeds are controlled according to council requirements.
- Verges are mown by tractor signs in relation to their meaning, positioning and material.
- Maintain records for road construction and maintenance
