Elements and Performance Criteria
- Identify the subfloor properties
- Applicable legislative, OHS and organisational requirements relevant to the use of appropriate compounds and additives, are verified and complied with
- Instructions and/or plans are read and interpreted to identify the process required to complete work tasks
- Appropriate personal protective equipment is selected, correctly fitted and used
- The type of floor/wall construction and the building floor/wall structure and sub-structure are identified
- Datum lines are run and checked to confirm dimensions
- Timber and/or concrete flooring inspections are completed to identify irregularities
- Wall inspections are completed to identify irregularities
- Select appropriate compounds and additives
- Types of floor and wall preparation compounds and additives and their functions are identified from relevant information sources
- Sub-floors/walls are checked for contamination, moisture content, plane, smooth and suitable preparation
- Suitable compounds and additives are selected consistent with the needs of the job
- Prepare compounds and additives
- Tools, equipment and materials are selected and checked prior to use to ensure that they are appropriate for the work, serviceable and in a safe condition
- Selected compounds and additives for application are organised and prepared in accordance with relevant safety management requirements
- The method of application is selected
- Sequence of work is planned to ensure the application of appropriate compounds and additives is in logical order
- Apply compounds and additives
- Working lines are established and starting point is selected
- Mixing station is established and selected compounds and additives are mixed to manufacturer instructions
- Selected compounds and additives are applied to the sub-floor surface following manufacturer instructions
- Sub-floors are inspected and reworked as required
- Clean up work area and tools
