- Applicable legislative, OHS and organisational requirements relevant to the installation of strip timber flooring onto battens are verified and complied with
- Instructions and/or plans are read and interpreted to identify process required to complete work tasks
- Sub-floor condition is assessed for suitability for installation of strip timber flooring consistent with Australian Standards, industry standards and manufacturer recommendations
- Suitable moisture membrane, fixings, adhesives, trims and accessories are selected as required.
- Tools, equipment and materials are selected and checked prior to use to ensure that they are appropriate for the work, serviceable and in a safe condition
- Sequence of work is planned, including the starting point, to ensure efficiency and quality of installation
- Lay moisture membrane
- Cut and fix timber battens
- Timber flooring to be installed is checked against order
- Timber flooring is acclimatised according to manufacturer recommendations
- Area to be covered is measured, working lines and starting point are established
- Timber battens for fixing are organised and used in accordance with relevant safety management requirements
- Timber battens are accurately and clearly marked for cutting
- Timber battens are cut to length and size for final laying to provide appropriate size and shape ensuring minimum waste
- Fixings are prepared for use as required
- Timber battens are fixed using methods and equipment that follows manufacturer recommendations
- Cut and fix timber flooring
- Instructions and sequence for laying and fixing timber flooring are followed
- Work lines and starting point are established
- Timber flooring is laid out to meet directional sequence, pattern match, specification requirements and to minimise waste and joins as appropriate
- The aesthetics of the materials are maximised where appropriate, matching grains and colours
- Fixing methods and equipment are used following manufacturer recommendations
- Timber flooring is cut to length and size for final laying to provide appropriate size and shape ensuring minimum waste
- Lay flooring
- Materials for fixing are organised and used in accordance with relevant safety management requirements
- Fixing methods and equipment are used following manufacturer recommendations and Australian Standards
- Appropriate field and perimeter expansion joints are allowed
- Skirting boards or cover trims are fitted and finished
- Finished job is inspected and any imperfections are rectified following workplace procedures
- Complete housekeeping
