- Monitor the pull system.
- Identify the pacemaker process
- Identify rate of production set by the pull system
- Determine actual rate of production at key parts of the process
- Identify types of inventories within process
- Compare actual inventories with planned inventories
- Note discrepancies between actual and planned rates and inventories
- Take corrective action.
- Test/improve the pull system.
- Identify recurrent discrepancies
- Determine cause(s) of discrepancies
- Determine action required to rectify cause
- Identify unnecessary levels of inventories
- Discuss impacts of reduced inventories with relevant stakeholders
- Take/initiate appropriate action to rectify recurrent discrepancies/reduce levels of unnecessary inventory
- Monitor the system to determine the effects of the change(s)
