Range Statement
The Range Statement relates to the unit of competency as a whole. It allows for different work environments and situations that may affect performance. Add any essential operating conditions that may be present with training and assessment depending on the work situation, needs of the candidate, accessibility of the item, and local industry and regional contexts.Where reference is made to industry codes of practice, and/or Australian/international standards, the latest version must be used. ContextThis competency applies to all operators working either independently or as part of a work team. ProceduresAll operations are performed in accordance with procedures.Procedures means all relevant workplace procedures, work instructions, temporary instructions and relevant industry and government codes and standards. These may include:original manufacturer instructions and guidelines for the use of any equipmentrelevant procedures relating to safe working practices prescribed for the equipmentlocal OHS legislation and/or Regulationssite specific instructions based on production requirements.Tools and equipmentThis competency includes use of equipment and tools such as:cleaning equipmentdetergents and other chemicals hand and power toolshand trolleys pallet trucksbut not more complex equipment such as forklifts, overhead cranes, or front end loaders.Loading and unloading aidsLoading and unloading aids include various types of equipment other than regulated load shifting equipment and must conform to materials handling requirements, safe work practices and manual handling techniques, and workplace proceduresHazardsTypical hazards include:slips, trips and fallsmanual handling injuriesdust, dirt and vapourscuts and abrasionslack of knowledge of machine operation.Problems'Simple problems' means 'apply defined solutions to a narrow range of previously specified problems'.Typical process and product problems may include:difficult access to the work areaawkward work spacestool failures or breakagesdefective equipmentincorrect or defective materialswrong quantities of materials.VariablesKey variables to be monitored include:atmospheric conditions (weather)condition of the work areaplacement of products or materials used in the production processlightingtypes of aids to production being used.
