Elements and Performance Criteria

1. Monitor and regulate required flows in irrigation systems
   • Access and apply operating requirements for flows in irrigation systems.
   • Use equipment to assist operational activities.
   • Monitor, measure and record flows at designated locations and systems according to schedule.
   • Identify potential operational problems and provide proactive advice.
   • Adjust flow regulation and control mechanisms to increase and decrease flow.
2. Record and report system adjustments
   • Produce information relating to flow adjustments.
   • Collect, record and report information on flows and abnormalities.
3. Respond to contingencies
   • Identify and assess potential risks and contingencies in the operation of flow control and regulating devices.
   • Respond to potential and actual risks and contingencies.
   • Inform relevant personnel within organisation of potential risks.

Performance Evidence

Evidence required to demonstrate competence must satisfy all of the requirements of the elements and performance criteria. If not otherwise specified the candidate must demonstrate evidence of performance of the following on at least one occasion.

collecting and reporting system performance information

interpreting data

producing information, including at least one of:

meter reading reports

daily running sheets

adjusting and maintaining flow system control mechanisms

securing flow regulation devices

identifying flow requirements

preparing for and conducting flow monitoring

identifying and reporting operational problems

completing records and reports

Evidence required to demonstrate competence must satisfy all of the requirements of the elements and performance criteria. If not otherwise specified the depth of knowledge demonstrated must be appropriate to the job context of the candidate.
