Elements and Performance Criteria

1. Plan and prepare work
   • Identify and access fault records from computerised or manual systems.
   • Interpret and categorise fault information.
   • Schedule and prioritise actions for repair of faults.
2. Rectify the faults of regulating devices
   • Use the software program to assist in rectifying faults.
   • Complete on-site inspection of faulty regulating device and determine problems.
   • Undertake regulator repairs to rectify faults.
   • Check the operating conditions of the regulating device meet manufacturer specifications.
3. Finalise work
   • Notify operational team of the state of repair work and operating conditions of regulating device.
   • Complete and file reports of repair.
   • Liaise with external contractors and operational team.

Performance Evidence

Evidence required to demonstrate competence must satisfy all of the requirements of the elements and performance criteria. If not otherwise specified the candidate must demonstrate evidence of performance of the following on at least one occasion.

liaising with external contractors and customers

undertaking a job safety analysis and checking hazards and safety requirements

using and storing equipment

identifying and analysing environmental conditions and limitations and the impact of work to be undertaken

identifying faults, changes and failure indicators

interpreting manufacturers’ requirements for rectifying and repairing faults

conducting relevant workplace reports and documentation

conducting routine inspections and maintenance conducting basic repairs
