Performance Evidence

Evidence required to demonstrate competence must satisfy all of the requirements of the elements and performance criteria. If not otherwise specified the candidate must demonstrate evidence of performance of the following on at least one occasion.

interpreting and reviewing hydraulic, architectural and site plans

identifying and evaluating trade waste producing processes

evaluating process inputs and outputs using relevant methodologies including at least one of:

mass balance

process yield

interpreting and evaluating sample analysis data

developing monitoring plans

coordinating measuring, testing and sampling activities

applying risk assessment and management based on AS 4360

planning and conducting investigations

assessing environmental impacts using ISO 14001 where appropriate

assessing waste treatment methods, processes, plant and equipment

managing trade waste resources

interpreting and applying complex requirements

implementing and designing monitoring programs

monitoring trade waste treatment and disposal programs

gathering data and preparing reports of the implementation of the trade waste management plan

managing the storage and maintenance of records

investigating breaches and providing input to the legal processes that flow from successful investigations of breaches


Knowledge Evidence

Evidence required to demonstrate competence must satisfy all of the requirements of the elements and performance criteria. If not otherwise specified the depth of knowledge demonstrated must be appropriate to the job context of the candidate.

relevant legislation and procedures

capacity and operation of plant and equipment

relevant enterprise policies for trade waste management

water quality parameters of significance to the wastewater system

appropriate analytical techniques available

industrial waste treatment methods

range of appropriate measuring, testing and sampling procedures

customer expectations and requirements

personal protection and safety precautions for wastewater sampling, including the requirements for relevant inoculations, including:
