Elements and Performance Criteria

1. Respond to hazards
   • Identify hazards in work environment for reporting purposes.
   • Report hazards to designated personnel in accordance with workplace procedures.
   • Maintain own safety within workplace.
   • Follow instructions to control risks.
2. Use personal protective equipment
   • Assess situation to identify personal protective equipment requirements.
   • Select personal protective equipment to protect safety of self.
   • Use personal protective equipment to protect safety of self.
   • Replace personal protective equipment in accordance with operational requirements.
3. Respond to hazards

Evidence required to demonstrate competence must satisfy all of the requirements of the elements and performance criteria. If not otherwise specified the candidate must demonstrate evidence of performance of the following on at least one occasion.

meeting workplace health and safety responsibilities, either verbally or in writing

Knowledge Evidence

Evidence required to demonstrate competence must satisfy all of the requirements of the elements and performance criteria. If not otherwise specified the depth of knowledge demonstrated must be appropriate to the job context of the candidate.
