Performance Evidence

Evidence required to demonstrate competence must satisfy all of the requirements of the elements and performance criteria. If not otherwise specified the candidate must demonstrate evidence of performance of the following on at least one occasion.

identifying extent, type and nature of assistance required by persons in care or custody

demonstrating situational awareness to identify safety risks to self, colleagues and public

identifying services and resources, both internal and external, required to manage persons in care and custody

delivering assistance to persons in care or custody, according to care plan and duty of care obligations

planning handover requirements for individuals

communicating verbally and in writing with internal and external stakeholders for both the delivery of services and handovers


Knowledge Evidence

Evidence required to demonstrate competence must satisfy all of the requirements of the elements and performance criteria. If not otherwise specified the depth of knowledge demonstrated must be appropriate to the job context of the candidate.

duty of care responsibilities and custodial practices

capabilities, powers and authorities of services external to policing

laws, policies and procedures pertaining to providing for, processing and escorting persons in care or custody

bail processes

police cell routines, procedures and security arrangements
