Elements and Performance Criteria
- Identify the need for an operation
- Prepare and plan for the operation chief’s role in the operation
- Identify and clarify tasks relevant to the operation with stakeholders.
- Issue warning order to operation commander/s.
- Gather all relevant information, including that gained from a planned reconnaissance, when required.
- Plan the operation using operational command principles and the appreciation process.
- Agree to concept and, where appropriate, obtain endorsement from stakeholders.
- Communicate the concept of operation to operation commander/s
- Conduct operations
- Provide resources for the area of operations according to the concept.
- Maintain command and control for the duration of the operation.
- Monitor situation and resources to ensure attainment of the mission.
- Respond to situational and resource changes by redeploying resources to achieve the operation’s intent.
- Contribute to post-operation processes
