- Access, interpret and apply drilling documentation and ensure the work activity is compliant
- Plan and prepare work activities to meet drilling requirements
- Receive, interpret and clarify shift change over details and review historical information
- Select and wear correct personal protective equipment
- Identify, manage and/or report hazards and potential risks according to the work plan
- Inspect and assess site conditions to determine if scaling is required and take action according to site requirements
- Place visible orientation marks to drill plan according to site procedures
- Ensure auxiliary services are available
- Erect physical barricades and signs and/or safety provisions to prevent unauthorised access
- Identify and clearly mark butts/misfires according to site procedures
- Ensure area is well ventilated using dust suppression and extraction methods before entry into work area
- Conduct equipment pre-start checks to insure equipment is safe and ready to use
- Move equipment and materials to site
- Conduct work in a safe and efficient manner
- Complete pre-start checks and confirm equipment is prepared for transportation
- Identify and manage hazards and potential risks to ensure safe transportation to drill site
- Transport equipment and attachments safely, according to road conditions, avoiding damage to equipment, site or injury to personnel
- Position and stabilise equipment at site according to ground conditions
- Connect auxiliary services
- Read, interpret and align equipment with orientation marks
- Drill and monitor progression
- Conduct work according to procedures, requirements and specifications in a safe and efficient manner
- Identify, manage and/or report hazards and potential risks according to work plan
- Use approved dust suppression and extraction methods
- Operate equipment safely within working environment limitations and face/ground conditions
- Interpret drill plans, then drill holes and realign equipment according to drill design and ground conditions
- Monitor ground conditions and adjust drilling techniques and components to maintain drilling operations
- Install collar pipes
- Remove drill cuttings and sludge to ensure drill hole remains clean
- Complete all required documentation clearly, concisely and mark misdirected holes
- Pack-up drill site
- Carry out operator maintenance
- Conduct housekeeping activities
