Performance Evidence

Evidence is required to be collected that demonstrates a candidate’s competency in this unit. Evidence must be relevant to the roles within this sector’s work operations and satisfy all of the requirements of the performance criteria of this unit and include evidence that the candidate:

locates and applies relevant documentation, policies and procedures

demonstrates completion of storing, handling and transporting explosives in underground coal mines that safely, effectively and efficiently meets all of the required outcomes on more than one (1) occasion including:

planning and preparing to handle and transport explosives

receiving and despatching explosives

segregating explosives and accessories

completing rotation of explosives in magazine

maintaining stock records and report discrepancies

selecting sufficient quantities of explosives and accessories according to shot plan

storing; handling and transporting explosives

accessing and managing explosives storage

implementing required signage


Knowledge Evidence

The candidate must demonstrate knowledge in storing handling and transporting explosives in underground coal mines:

shot plan

site security plan

handling and transporting hazardous goods requirements

WHS requirements and procedures

equipment safety requirements

emergency procedures

site operational systems, procedures and checks

manufacturer's instructions

types, characteristics and applications of explosives and accessories

equipment operational procedures, technical capability and limitations

labeling requirements
