Performance Evidence

Evidence is required to be collected that demonstrates a candidate’s competency in this unit. Evidence must be relevant to the roles within this sector’s work operations and satisfy all of the requirements of the performance criteria of this unit and include evidence that the candidate:

locates and applies applicable legislation, documentation, policies and procedures

implements the requirements, procedures and techniques for the safe, effective and efficient rolling of aggregate in sprayed sealing operations including:

selecting and using required tools and equipment

rolling aggregate to required patterns

monitoring quality and reporting faults

controlling roll speed to suit operations

works effectively with others to undertake and complete the rolling of aggregate in sprayed sealing operations that meets all of the required outcomes including:

organising work activities to meet all task requirements

communicating clearly and concisely with others to receive and clarify work instructions

using a range of communication techniques and systems such as signage to advise others of work activity and exclusion zone

demonstrates completion of roll aggregrate in sprayed sealing operations that safely, effectively and efficiently meets all of the required outcomes including:

identifying, reporting and recording hazards and risks

a minimum of three (3) separate projects of at least 5000m2 each are to be rolled

a minimum of three (3) restricted access projects are to be rolled selected from:

a car park

sub-division

turning lane

intersection

corner and a cul-de-sac


Knowledge Evidence

The candidate must demonstrate knowledge of rolling aggregate in sprayed sealing operations through:

applying legislative, organisational and site requirements and procedures for:

site and equipment safety requirements

self-propelled multi wheel pneumatic tyred roller or combination roller operations

sprayed sealing operations

aggregate types and sizes

primer-seal and seal materials

project quality requirements

housekeeping

equipment types, characteristics, technical capabilities and limitations

applying operational, maintenance and basic diagnostic procedures

applying site isolation and traffic control responsibilities and authorities

applying processes for the calculation of material requirements, application rates and travel speed

safety data sheets and materials handling methods
