Performance Evidence

Evidence is required to be collected that demonstrates a candidate’s competency in this unit. Evidence must be relevant to the roles within this sector’s work operations and satisfy all of the requirements of the performance criteria of this unit and include evidence that the candidate:

locates and applies applicable documentation, policies and procedures

implements requirements, procedures and techniques for the safe, effective and efficient escorting of mobile works including:

applying equipment/manual handling techniques

selecting and using relevant tools and equipment

applying job safety analyses / safe work method statements

works effectively with others to undertake and complete the escorting of mobile works that meets all of the required outcomes including:

organising work activities to meet all task requirements

communicating clearly and concisely with others to receive and clarify work instructions

using a range of communication techniques to advise others clearly and concisely of work activity and exclusion zone

demonstrates completion of escorting mobile works that safely, effectively and efficiently meets all of the required outcomes on more than one (1) occasion including:

identifying, reporting and recording hazards and risks

identifying safe locations for work convoy turns

applying signage requirements including at least three (3) of the following:

escort vehicle

vehicle mounted signage

highway traffic signs

site safety signage

temporary signage for the benefit of motorists and pedestrians

traffic conditions signage


Knowledge Evidence

The candidate must demonstrate knowledge of the following when escorting mobile works:

organisation and site requirements and procedures for:

work, health and safety

equipment operation

operational, maintenance and basic diagnostics

mobile traffic control and general traffic control

job safety analyses / safe work method statements

housekeeping

equipment types, characteristics, technical capabilities and limitations

calculation of travel speed

project quality requirements

Civil construction terminology

site isolation and traffic control responsibilities and authorities

project traffic management plans
