Performance Evidence

Evidence is required to be collected that demonstrates a candidate’s competency in this unit. Evidence must be relevant to the roles within this sector’s work operations and satisfy all of the requirements of the performance criteria of this unit and include evidence that the candidate:

locates and applies applicable documentation, policies and procedures

works effectively with others to undertake and complete the handling and storing of road marking materials that meets all of the required outcomes including:

applying a range of communication techniques to clearly and concisely communicate to others

demonstrates completion of handling and storing road marking materials that safely, effectively and efficiently meets all of the required outcomes on more than one (1) occasion including:

selecting and inspecting for faults in plant, tools and equipment

identifying, reporting and recording hazards, risks and environmental issues

applying appropriate handling techniques for different materials

storing materials in an isolated area from the workplace or public access

erecting signage and barricades

clearing work area and disposing of or recycling waste materials appropriately

completing safe storage procedures for a combination of any two (2) of paint, solvent, glass beads, epoxy, additives and thermo-plastic on two (2) projects in accordance with SDS requirements


Knowledge Evidence

The candidate must demonstrate knowledge in handling and storing road marking materials through:

applying organisation and site requirements and procedures for:

work, health and safety

equipment operation

operational, maintenance and basic diagnostics

mobile traffic control and general traffic control

JSAs/safe work method statements

safe housekeeping

equipment types, characteristics, technical capabilities and limitations

applying processes for the calculation of travel speed

complying with project quality requirements

identifying and using civil construction terminology

site isolation and traffic control responsibilities and authorities

applying processes for the calculation of material requirements

applying safety data sheets (SDS) and materials handling methods

being prepared for fire/accident/emergency
