Performance Evidence

Evidence is required to be collected that demonstrates a candidate’s competency in this unit. Evidence must be relevant to the roles within this sector’s work operations and satisfy all of the requirements of the performance criteria of this unit and include evidence that the candidate:

locates and applies applicable documentation, policies and procedures

works effectively with others to undertake and complete the installation of raised pavement markers that meets all of the required outcomes including:

communicating clearly and concisely with others to receive and clarify work instructions

using a range of communication techniques and systems such as signage to advise others of work activity and exclusion zone

demonstrates completion of the installation of raised pavement markers that safely, effectively and efficiently meets all of the required outcomes on more than one (1) occasion including:

selecting and inspecting for faults in plant, tools and equipment

identifying, reporting and recording hazards, risks and environmental issues

removing dirt, debris and contaminants from the area

setting out the location for line marking with control points

preparing the marking materials by mixing, adjusting and curing appropriately

installation of two hundred (200) permanent reflective or non-reflective raised pavement markers on the various line configurations

measuring, calculating and quantifying amount of raised pavement markers


Knowledge Evidence

The candidate must demonstrate knowledge in installing raised pavement markers through:

applying organisation and site requirements and procedures for:

work, health and safety

equipment operation

operational, maintenance and basic diagnostics

JSAs/safe work method statements

housekeeping

identifying and applying road markings

identifying equipment types, characteristics, technical capabilities and limitations

complying with project quality requirements

identifying and using civil construction terminology

complying with site isolation and traffic control responsibilities and authorities

identifying road marking materials

applying raised pavement marking activities and techniques

complying with safety data sheets and materials handling methods

applying processes for the calculation of marker requirements, placement rates and travel speed

being prepared for fire/accident/emergency
