Performance Evidence

Evidence is required to be collected that demonstrates a candidate’s competency in this unit. Evidence must be relevant to the roles within this sector’s work operations and satisfy all of the requirements of the performance criteria of this unit and include evidence that the candidate:

locates and applies applicable legislation, documentation, policies and procedures

works effectively with others to undertake and complete the long line road marking operations that meets all of the required outcomes including:

communicating clearly and concisely with others to receive and clarify work instructions

using a range of communication techniques and systems such as signage to advise others of work activity and exclusion zone

demonstrates completion of conducting long line road marking road marking operations that safely, effectively and efficiently meets all of the required outcomes on more than one (1) occasion including:

selecting and inspecting for faults in plant, tools and equipment

identifying, reporting and recording hazards, risks and environmental issues

conducting pre-start, start-up, park up, shutdown and secure equipment maintenance procedures

placement of new lines for a minimum of five (5) kilometres of each of the following, with a long line road marking machine to the specified tolerance:

centre line (to include separation line, barrier line one direction and barrier line both directions)

edge lines

re-marking over existing lines for a minimum of five (5) kilometres of each of the following, with a long line road marking machine to the specified tolerance:

centre line (to include separation line, barrier line one direction and barrier line both directions)

edge lines


Knowledge Evidence

The candidate must demonstrate knowledge in conducting long line road marking operations through:

accessing, interpreting and applying legislative, organisation and site requirements and procedures for:

work, health and safety

equipment operation

operational, maintenance and basic diagnostics

JSAs/safe work method statements

housekeeping

identifying and applying road markings

identifying equipment types, characteristics, technical capabilities and limitations

complying with project quality requirements

identifying and using civil construction terminology

complying with site isolation and traffic control responsibilities and authorities

identifying road marking materials

applying ride on road marking activities and techniques

complying with safety data sheets and materials handling methods

applying processes for the calculation of material requirements, application rates and travel speed

being prepared for fire/accident/emergency
