Elements and Performance Criteria

1. Ensure appropriate planning and preparation of tasks is carried out for applying the principles of demolitions
   • Access, interpret and apply the principles of demolition documentation and ensure the work activity is compliant
   • Access, interpret and clarify the specific task information and requirements relevant to undertaking the demolition tasks
   • Access, interpret and clarify job plan
   • Identify, address and report potential risks, hazards and environmental issues and implement control measures
   • Communicate and coordinate activities with others prior to, during and on completion of the work activity
2. Initiate tasks as per the demolition job plan
   • Identify, obtain and allocate the necessary resources are available for the safe, effective and efficient completion of the work activity
   • Communicate and explain work group and individual responsibilities and tasks
   • Sequence tasks as required for effective completion
3. Oversee the execution of tasks
   • Access, interpret and apply procedures for monitoring demolition performance to ensure outcomes are met
   • Initiate adjustments to work practice or job plan to ensure safe execution of work and achievement of required outcomes
4. Report on the execution of tasks
   • Complete and submit written reports
   • Recommend corrective actions to improve safety, efficiency and effectiveness

Performance Evidence

Evidence is required to be collected that demonstrates a candidate’s competency in this unit. Evidence must be relevant to the roles within this sector’s work operations and satisfy all of the requirements of the performance criteria of this unit and include evidence that the candidate:

locates and applies relevant legislation, documentation, policies and procedures

implements the requirements, procedures and techniques for the safe, effective and efficient completion of Apply the principles of demolitions including:

interpreting and applying geological, hydrological and survey data

selecting and applying demolition techniques

selecting and assigning plant and equipment

demonstrates completion of the principles of demolition that safely, effectively and efficiently meets all of the required outcomes on more than one (1) occasion including:

identifying, obtaining and allocating the necessary resources are available for the safe, effective and efficient completion of the tasks

setting out tasks as required for the effective completion of the task

monitoring demolition tasks performance to ensure it achieves the required outcomes

initiating adjustments to work practice or job plan to ensure safe execution of work and achievement of required outcomes

applying procedures for monitoring demolition tasks performance to ensure it achieves the required outcomes

preparing written reports on demolition execution
