Elements and Performance Criteria

1. Access and share requirements and procedures
   • Access, interpret and apply dust and noise documentation and ensure the work activity is compliant
   • Provide information in a language, style and format that is easily understood
   • Explain the health and environmental implications of non-conformance to all
2. Plan and implement site requirement
   • Plan control measures and work practices with colleagues to ensure compliance
   • Implement control measures and work practices to ensure compliance
   • Plan and implement dust and noise monitoring
   • Identify dust and noise control training needs and implement training as required
3. Monitor, adjust and report
   • Identify, rectify and report actual/potential dust and noise problems promptly and decisively to ensure compliance
   • Manage activities so that potential non-compliance issues are minimised
   • Submit recommendations on improvements in dust and noise control
   • Inform individuals/teams of the results of improvements in dust and noise control
   • Maintain systems, written records and reporting procedures

Performance Evidence

Evidence is required to be collected that demonstrates a candidate’s competency in this unit. Evidence must be relevant to the roles within this sector’s work operations and satisfy all of the requirements of the performance criteria of this unit and include evidence that the candidate:

locates and applies relevant legislation, documentation, policies and procedures

works effectively with others to undertake and complete effective supervision of dust and noise control to meet all required outcomes including:

preparing for and organising work activities to meet all task requirements

communicating clearly and concisely with others to receive and clarify work instructions

using a range of communication techniques and aids to advise others of work activity and exclusion zones

demonstrates completion of supervising dust and noise control that safely, effectively and efficiently meets all of the required outcomes on more than one (1) occasion including:

accessing and interpreting compliance documentation

investigate and implement control measures

implement dust and noise monitoring

process written reports and records

identifying recommendations and communicating to the work team

The candidate must demonstrate knowledge of the following when supervising dust and noise control through:

accessing, interpreting and applying the organisation and site requirements and procedures

identifying harmful dust and noise levels

knowledge of the health and environmental implication of non-conformance
