Performance Evidence

Evidence is required to be collected that demonstrates a candidate’s competency in this unit. Evidence must be relevant to the roles within this sector’s work operations and satisfy all of the requirements of the performance criteria of this unit and include evidence that the candidate:

locates and applies relevant legislation, documentation, policies and procedures

works effectively with others to undertake and complete effective process or project environmental impact assessment to meet all required outcomes including:

preparing for and organising work activities to meet all task requirements

communicating clearly and concisely with others to receive and clarify work instructions

using a range of communication techniques and aids to advise others of work activity and exclusion zones

demonstrates completion of undertaking a process or project on environmental impact assessment that safely, effectively and efficiently meets all of the required outcomes on more than one (1) occasion including:

preparing written descriptions of process or project environment

preparing process or project life cycle

identifying environmental issues

identify assessment criteria

identify positive and negative impacts

evaluate risks and hazards

clearly present written assessment

preparing objective and scientifically valid alternatives

preparing comparisons


Knowledge Evidence

The candidate must demonstrate knowledge of undertaking a process or project environmental impact assessment through:

accessing, interpreting and applying the organisation and site requirements and procedures

implementing the organisations environmental policies, goals and procedures

following the process or project and/or proposal phases

determining the physical environment as impacted by mining operations

determining the ecological environment as impacted by mining operations

identifying land use profiles

comprehending social issues as impacted by mining operations

determining the impact of mining operations on infrastructure

knowledge of applicable legislation, regulation, licenses and permit requirements

using data analysis systems, including statistical analysis

identifying support professions role and function (engineers, scientists etc)

maintaining budgeting and cost cycle planning
