Elements and Performance Criteria
- Plan and prepare for the control of emergencies and critical situations
- Access, interpret and apply control of drilling emergencies and critical situations documentation and ensure the work activity is compliant
- Obtain, read, interpret, clarify and confirm work requirements
- Identify and address potential risks, hazards and environmental issues and implement control measures
- Select and wear personal protective equipment appropriate for work activities
- Communicate and coordinate activities with others prior to, during and on completion of the work activity
- Identify, establish and maintain communication systems with other personnel during the drilling emergency
- Contribute to the control of critical situations
- Identify and maintain safe working practices
- Interpret/apply national standards and code of practice for manual handling
- Identify and initiate actions in response to developing, emerging and existing critical situations
- Activate relevant alarms
- Identify, interpret and apply processes and systems to quickly and competently close the well
- and flow control head
- Provide assistance in the application of First Aid and medivac procedures
- Monitor the situation and initiate actions to minimise risks to personnel, environment, process, plant, tools and equipment
- Maintain verbal and written reporting requirements of critical situations
- Participate in debriefs and complete written records/documentation
- Respond to emergencies in other areas
