Performance Evidence

Evidence is required to be collected that demonstrates a candidate’s competency in this unit. Evidence must be relevant to the roles within this sector’s work operations and satisfy all of the requirements of the performance criteria of this unit and include that the candidate:

locate and apply relevant legislation, documentation, policies and procedures

works effectively with others to undertake and complete the emergency preparedness that meets all of the required outcomes including:

complying with written and verbal reporting requirements and procedures

communicating clearly and concisely with others to provide and clarify work instructions

communicating clearly and concisely with others to coordinate work activities

operating emergency communication systems

demonstrates completion of implementing emergency preparedness and response systems that safely, effectively and efficiently meets all of the required outcomes on more than one (1) occasion including:

assessing and communicating the nature and scope of the incident in accordance with emergency preparedness and response plans

identifying and implementing relevant emergency plans in accordance established emergency preparedness and response procedures

implementing emergency response and evacuation plans and procedures in accordance with established emergency preparedness and response procedures

implementing operations facilities for incident management in accordance with established emergency preparedness and response procedures

implementing procedures for monitoring, recording and reporting on emergency incidents according to statutory requirements and those of established emergency preparedness and response procedures

implementing procedures for the collection and analysis of emergency preparedness and response data

participating in review and audit of systems, plans and processes


Knowledge Evidence

The candidate must demonstrate knowledge in, applying the implement emergency preparedness and response systems through:

audit and review processes and techniques

training and assessment principles

training systems

emergency response and evacuation planning processes and techniques

structure of emergency procedures guidelines

intervention and control techniques for heating, fires, explosions, outburst, or inrushes

the effects of hot and humid atmospheres

escape strategies and technology

mine environmental risks and controls

equipment requirements for different types of emergency

call-out procedures

the roles of external agencies

the structure, role and responsibilities of the Incident Control

understanding the trigger points to initiate emergency response to alarms

understanding of guidance systems and markers

site emergency plans

the types of adverse environmental conditions

the types of hazards and incidents on a mine site

debriefing process
