Performance Evidence

Evidence is required to be collected that demonstrates a candidate’s competency in this unit. Evidence must be relevant to the roles within this sector’s work operations and satisfy all of the requirements of the performance criteria of this unit and include evidence that the candidate:

locates and applies relevant documentation, policies and procedures

implements the requirements, procedures and techniques for the safe, effective and efficient completion of lifting operations including:

planning and preparing for lifting and moving loads

works effectively with others to undertake and complete lifting operations that meet all of the required outcomes including:

confirming job feasibility and schedule with lift designer and other relevant person/s

directing the movement of the load using standard signals for load moving

demonstrates completion of conducting lifting operations that safely, effectively and efficiently meets all of the required outcomes on more than one (1) occasion including:

checking and confirming job feasibility and schedule

developing a preliminary lift plan which must identify:

confirmed details of lifting and slinging requirements

confirmed dimensions

site access and egress

suitability and availability of materials

tools and equipment

identification of potential hazards

probable control measures

identification of site coordination requirements

scheduling resources required for the planned lift

identifying, selecting, inspecting, assembling and certifying lifting equipment, materials and tools required for the planned lift

performing load moving in accordance with the lift plan
