Elements and Performance Criteria
Performance Evidence
Evidence is required to be collected that demonstrates a candidate’s competency in this unit. Evidence must be relevant to the roles within this sector’s work operations and satisfy all of the requirements of the performance criteria of this unit and include evidence that the candidate:
locates and applies relevant legislation, documentation, policies and proceduresimplements the requirements, procedures and techniques for the safe, effective and efficient transportation of plant, equipment and personnel including:interpreting load plans, reports, maps and specificationsreading and interpreting instructions, procedures and labels relevant to the preparation, loading, transporting and unloading of loadsidentifying, selecting and using relevant equipment, processes and procedures when preparing, transporting, loading and unloading estimating the size, shape and special requirements of loads modifying the preparation, loading, transporting and unloading procedures works effectively with others to undertake and complete the transportation of plant, equipment and personnel that meet all of the required outcomes including:communicating and coordinating activities with others throughout the work activity demonstrates completion of transporting plant, equipment and personnel that safely, effectively and efficiently meets all of the required outcomes on more than one (1) occasion including:loading plant, equipment and/or personneltransporting plant, equipment and/or personnelunloading plant, equipment and/or personnelmaintaining transportation documentation
Knowledge Evidence
The candidate must demonstrate knowledge of the following when transporting plant, equipment and personnel:
Australian and international codes and regulations relevant to the transportation of plant, equipment and personnel, including the Australian and international dangerous goods codesWHS and environmental protection procedures and guidelines relevant to the preparation and transportation of plant, equipment and personnelworkplace procedures and policies for the preparation and transportation of plant, equipment and personneloperations of work systems, equipment, management and site operating systems for the preparation and transportation of plant, equipment and personnelproblems that may occur when preparing for and transporting plant, equipment and personnelappropriate action to be taken to resolve problems and potential problemsrelevant handling and safety codestypes of equipment used to transfer loads in terminals/wharves, their applications and procedures and precautions for their userequirements for safe working load (SWL) and working load limit (WLL) of load shifting equipmentthe marking and numbering systems for cargorelevant bond, quarantine or other legislative requirements
