Performance Evidence

Evidence is required to be collected that demonstrates a candidate’s competency in this unit. Evidence must be relevant to the roles within this sector’s work operations and satisfy all of the requirements of the performance criteria of this unit and include evidence that the candidate:

locates and applies relevant legislation, documentation, policies and procedures

implements the requirements, procedures and techniques for the safe, effective and efficient completion of special roadway operations including:

operating plant and equipment efficiently in special and difficult conditions

interpreting and applying survey data

reading, interpreting and applying technical information and plans

predicting likely changes in roadway/faceline conditions and geology

works effectively with others to plan, prepare and conduct special roadway operations that meets all of the required outcomes including:

organising work activities to meet all task requirements

communicating clearly and concisely with others to receive and clarify work instructions

complying with written and verbal reporting requirements and procedures

resolving coordination requirements throughout work activities

demonstrates completion of conducting special roadway operations that safely, effectively and efficiently meets all of the required outcomes on more than one (1) occasion including:

forming or profiling roadways/headings/facelines

confirming work requirements details such as;

nature and scope of task

achievement targets

locations

headings and other essential survey information

working and geological conditions

ventilation conditions

equipment/plant allocation, including any defects

other resources

hazards and potential hazards

coordination requirements/issues


Knowledge Evidence

The candidate must demonstrate knowledge of conducting special roadway operations through:

geological features of special conditions, including faults, dykes, intrusions and high stress zones

impact of changing conditions on equipment plant and mining operations

supporting techniques and their applications in special operations

ventilation techniques for special operations

complying with site operational procedures and support rules

equipment characteristics, capabilities and limitations

being prepared for fire/accident/emergency
