Elements and Performance Criteria
- Plan and prepare for belly dump truck operations
- Access, interpret and apply conducting belly dump truck operations documentation and ensure the work activity is compliant
- Obtain, read, interpret, clarify and confirm work requirements
- Identify and address potential risks, hazards and environmental issues, and implement control measures
- Select and wear personal protective equipment appropriate for work activities
- Access, interpret and apply required geological and survey data
- Inspect and prepare work area in coordination with others
- Resolve coordination requirements with others at the site prior to commencing, during and on completions of work activities
- Operate belly dump truck
- Isolate vehicle and carry out pre-start checks including a walk around the vehicle and inspection of the body and tyres and report any issues identified
- Enter and exit the vehicle using a three points of contact technique
- Conduct start-up procedures, then start up the vehicle
- Select and modify the operating/drive technique to appropriately meet changing work conditions
- Drive, manoeuvre, conduct and control operations within the vehicle limitations
- Act on or report monitoring systems and alarms
- Continually monitor hazards and risks, and ensure safety to self, others, plant and equipment
- Conduct park-up and shutdown procedures
- Load, haul and dump materials
- Carry out belly dump truck post-operational procedures
