Elements and Performance Criteria
- Plan, prepare for supervision of mobile plant operations
- Access, interpret, apply mobile plant operations documentation, and ensure the work activity is compliant
- Obtain, read, interpret, clarify and confirm work requirements
- Identify and address risks, hazards and environmental issues and implement control measures
- Select and wear personal protective equipment appropriate for work activities
- Obtain, interpret and share with team members the geological and survey data required to complete the mobile plant operations
- Prepare and implement an action plan, in consultation with team members, making best use of the available resources
- Acquire and make available the necessary resources
- Issue clear and timely instructions to team members and others involved
- Monitor risk management and environmental protection and address non-compliance
- Ensure all team members are trained in emergency procedures and are prepared for fire/accident/emergency
- Monitor, adjust and report on execution of the operations
Performance Evidence
Evidence is required to be collected that demonstrates a candidate’s competency in this unit. Evidence must be relevant to the roles within this sector’s work operations and satisfy all of the requirements of the performance criteria of this unit and include evidence that the candidate:
locates and applies relevant legislation, documentation, policies and proceduresimplements appropriate procedures and techniques for the safe, effective and efficient supervision of mobile plant operations including:planning and preparing for execution of the operationsproviding team leadershipassessing work/activity and determining appropriate equipment and operational techniquesdeveloping, sharing and monitoring work plansworks effectively with others to plan, prepare and supervise mobile plant operations including:using a range of communications techniques and equipment to convey information to team memberscommunicating clearly and concisely with team members and others to provide and clarify work instructionspreparing for and conducting briefings, toolbox and site meetingsmaintaining written and verbal reporting requirements and proceduresensuring team members written and verbal reporting requirements are accurate, on time and meet requirementsorganising work activities to meet all task requirementsdemonstrates completion of supervising mobile plant operations that safely, effectively and efficiently meets all of the required outcomes on more than one (1) occasion including:execution of operations where a minimum of three (3) different types of mobile plant have been operatingdevelopment of action plans, in consultation with team memberscompletion of an improvement assessment report, in consultation with team membersidentifying training requirements of team members
