Performance Evidence

Evidence is required to be collected that demonstrates a candidate’s competency in this unit. Evidence must be relevant to the roles within this sector’s work operations and satisfy all of the requirements of the performance criteria of this unit and include evidence that the candidate:

locates and applies relevant documentation, policies and procedures

implements the requirements, procedures and techniques for the safe, effective and efficient completion of the installation of de-watering conduit and gas drainage equipment including:

applying planning skills

complying with safe manual handling practices

conducting site inspection and monitoring

conducting equipment maintenance

reading, interpreting and applying drill plans

operating ancillary equipment

works effectively with others to undertake and complete the installation of de-watering conduit and gas drainage equipment that meets all of the required outcomes including:

complying with written and verbal reporting requirements and procedures

communicating clearly and concisely with others to receive and clarify work instructions

communicating clearly and concisely with others to resolve coordination requirements prior to commencing and during work activities

demonstrates completion of the installation of de-watering conduit and gas drainage equipment that safely, effectively and efficiently meets all of the required outcomes on more than one (1) occasion including:

installing the de-watering conduit into hollow rod to the required distance

removing hollow rods leaving conduit in place

connecting and disconnecting conduit to de-watering system and removing water via the water trap

monitoring, recording and interpreting all pressure and flow readings

selecting and installing appropriate gas drainage equipment

measuring and monitoring gas drainage

identifying and tagging gas drainage and monitoring units


Knowledge Evidence

The candidate must demonstrate knowledge installing de-watering conduit and gas drainage equipment through:

accessing, interpreting and applying the organisation and site requirements and procedures for

work, health and safety

environmental issues

operating drill rig

housekeeping

potential underground directional drilling hazards

the potential de-watering and gas drainage operations hazards

principles of de-watering drill holes and gas drainage

the manufacturer’s requirements and procedures

the specific handling requirements for dewatering and gas drainage equipment

importance and functions of the standpipe

being prepared for fire/accident/emergency
