Elements and Performance Criteria

1. Plan and prepare for mine services and infrastructure systems
   • Access, interpret and apply mine services and infrastructure systems documentation and ensure the work activity is compliant
   • Obtain, read, interpret, clarify and confirm work requirements
   • Identify and address potential risks, hazards and environmental issues and implement control measures
   • Select and wear personal protective equipment appropriate for work activities
   • Access and share with team the systems requirements
   • Prepare an implementation action plan, in consultation with team members, which makes best use of the available resources
   • Identify individual training needs and develop training plans
   • Issue clear and timely instructions to team members and others involved for the safe, effective and efficient use of mine services and infrastructure systems
2. Apply and monitor systems for the operation and maintenance of site services and infrastructure systems and equipment
   • Assess the impacts of equipment and systems on work processes, and record and report findings
   • Apply and monitor operational and maintenance programs and procedures
   • Apply and monitor procedures for reviewing and modifying work processes
   • Apply and monitor site procedures throughout the work and report findings
   • Participate in systems audit and review
   • Apply and monitor emergency response and evacuation plans and procedures
3. Apply systems maintenance procedures
   • Schedule and carry out inspections, repair and maintenance activities
   • Record, report and monitor maintenance requirements and activities
   • Recommend improvements to the systems

Performance Evidence

Evidence is required to be collected that demonstrates a candidate’s competency in this unit. Evidence must be relevant to the roles within this sector’s work operations and satisfy all of the requirements of the performance criteria of this unit and include evidence that the candidate:

locates and applies relevant legislation, documentation, policies and procedures

implements appropriate procedures and techniques for the safe, effective and efficient applying and monitoring of site services and infrastructure systems including:

providing team leadership

determining appropriate operational techniques

developing and administering work plans

applying hazard and risk management controls

work planning and coordination

identify training needs and implementing training plans

implementing systems maintenance and modifications

works effectively with others to plan, prepare and apply the site services and infrastructure systems including:

providing clear and timely instruction and supervision using a range of communication techniques to those involved

preparing for and conducting briefings, toolbox and site meetings

maintaining clear and legible written records and the reporting systems

consulting with stakeholders

demonstrates completion of applying and monitoring of site services and infrastructure systems that safely, effectively and efficiently meets all of the required outcomes on more than one (1) occasion including:

identifying the different site service systems including a minimum of six (6) of the following:

water

wastewater

compressed air

fire fighting

fuel/oil

electrical

waste disposal

site monitoring systems

sanitation

communication systems

identifying all of the functions and infrastructure related to the site service systems

evidence of the consistent successful development of implementation action plans

participating and contributing to audit and review process

specifications for site services and infrastructure

identifying and clearly communicating key issues
