Elements and Performance Criteria

1. Conduct pool water tests.
   • Complete routine pool water tests according to public health regulatory requirements.
   • Interpret test results and compare with public health regulatory requirements.
   • Identify and report pool water test irregularities to appropriate personnel for corrective action.
   • Respond to contamination incidents within scope of own role.
   • Conduct regular sample collection and initiate corrective actions as required.
   • Perform regular visual checks of pool water quality, identify issues and initiate corrective actions when required.
2. Record test results.
   • Record pool water test results accurately.
   • Update swimming pool log according to aquatic facility specifications.

Performance Evidence

Evidence of the ability to complete tasks outlined in elements and performance criteria of this unit in the context of the job role, and:

test pool water for the following on a minimum of four separate occasions:

free chlorine and/or total bromine

total chlorine

combined chlorine

pH

total alkalinity

cyanuric acid

calcium hardness

total hardness

temperature

perform routine visual checks for pool water quality.
