SCOPE

1. GENERAL CONTEXT

a.

Work must be carried out:

relevant sections of State and Territory marine regulations, NSCV/USL Code

b.

Work is performed:

within broad operational requirements, with responsibility for own outputs in relation to specified quality standards and limited responsibility for others in achieving the specified quality and quantity of outcomes

c.

Work involves:

1

the organisation of the use and basic maintenance of deck machinery on a vessel and the application of solutions to a defined range of maintenance problems

2. WORKSITE ENVIRONMENT

a

Vessel may include:

1

any commercial vessel up to 750kW propulsion power (and up to 1,500kW in restricted offshore operations)

b

Operation and maintenance of the deck machinery may be carried out:

1

by day or night in both normal and emergency situations

2

under any permissible conditions of weather

3

while underway

4

when berthed or moored

5

when slipped or in dry dock

c

Maintenance may include:

1

routine visual and performance checks

2

identification of any faults or operational problems

identification of damaged or worn equipment or fittings and arranging for repair or replacement
