- Faults and deficiencies in points and crossings are identified and work required to restore track to required standard is determined
- Hazards are identified, risks are assessed and control measures are implemented
- Repair methods are appropriately identified to enable repairs to be made
- Job requirements are determined in accordance with workplace procedures, and scope of work activities and resources required are identified
- Maintain components and tolerances
- Clearances are adjusted to specifications to ensure correct functioning
- Wearing surfaces are cleaned and lubricated as required to minimise wear and ensure correct functioning
- Install components
- New components are prepared to specifications ready for installation
- Tools and equipment required for installation are identified and accessed
- New and replacement components are installed in accordance with rail industry standards and workplace procedures
- Conduct post-installation checks
- Functional checks are carried out to ensure correct operation
- Completed work is checked for compliance to acceptance standards in accordance with workplace procedures
- Operating conditions are applied appropriately, in accordance with workplace procedures
- Complete documentation
- Required documentation procedures and processes are confirmed
- Documentation is filled in legibly and proofread
- Documentation is processed in accordance with workplace procedures
