Performance Evidence

Evidence required to demonstrate competence in this unit must be relevant to and satisfy all of the requirements of the elements and performance criteria on at least one occasion and include:

adjusting slump of concrete to meet customer requirements

applying knowledge of relevant regulations and workplace procedures

applying map reading and road navigation techniques to agitator operation

applying precautions and required action to minimise, control or eliminate identified hazards

cleaning vehicle in accordance with workplace, environmental and regulatory standards

communicating effectively with others

completing relevant documentation

conducting pre-site worksite checks

correcting positioning and charging of agitator

discharging concrete using concrete pump, wheelbarrow, kibble and chutes

following operational instructions

modifying activities depending on operational contingencies, risk situations and environments

monitoring and anticipating traffic hazards and taking appropriate action

monitoring vehicle performance and taking appropriate action as required

operating agitator and ancillary equipment

reading and interpreting relevant instructions, procedures, information and signs

reporting and rectifying within limits of own role, identified problems, faults and malfunctions in accordance with regulatory requirements and workplace procedures

selecting and using required personal protective equipment, conforming to industry and work health and safety (WHS)/occupational health and safety (OHS) standards

using ancillary equipment

working collaboratively with others.


Knowledge Evidence

Evidence required to demonstrate competence in this unit must be relevant to and satisfy all of the requirements of the elements and performance criteria and include knowledge of:

driving hazards and related defensive driving techniques

effect of different slumps on vehicle stability

factors that may cause traffic delays and diversions, and related action that can be taken

map reading and vehicle navigation

pre-operational vehicle checks and related action

pre-site check workplace procedures

procedures for measuring mass to ensure compliance with axle weight

procedures to be followed in a driving emergency

procedures to be followed when concrete is charged and discharged

relevant state/territory roads and traffic authority road rules, regulations, permit and licence requirements

relevant WHS/OHS and environmental procedures and regulations.
