Elements and Performance Criteria

1. Identify high risk behaviour
   • High risk behaviour that road user groups engage in is identified
   • Strategies to reduce high risk behaviour in others and self are identified
2. Identify reason why high risk behaviour is undertaken
   • Factors that influence people to engage in high risk behaviour are identified and explained
   • Australian Road Rules and legislation that attempt to address high risk behaviour are identified
   • Roles of regulatory bodies in addressing high risk behaviour are identified and explained
3. Identify the consequences of high risk behaviour
   • Possible short-term consequences of high risk behaviour are identified and outlined
   • Possible long-term consequences of high risk behaviour are identified and outlined

Performance Evidence

Evidence required to demonstrate competence in this unit must be relevant to and satisfy all of the requirements of the elements and performance criteria on at least one occasion and include:

communicating effectively with others identifying high risk behaviour identifying regulatory bodies identifying ways to reduce high risk behaviour within peer group and self reading interpreting and following instructions, procedures and information.

Knowledge Evidence

Evidence required to demonstrate competence in this unit must be relevant to and satisfy all of the requirements of the elements and performance criteria and include knowledge of:

high risk behaviour factors including: alcohol distraction drugs fatigue hoon behaviour inattention speed (high speed or inappropriate for circumstances) other road users including: cyclists and skaters farm vehicles heavy commercial vehicles mobility scooters other drivers passengers pedestrians segways potential consequences of high risk behaviours including: economic impact emotional reaction financial effect legal repercussions physical injury social repercussions risk factors and how they affect performance relevant Australian Road Rules relevant state/territory roads and traffic authorities.
