Elements and Performance Criteria

Performance Evidence

Evidence required to demonstrate competence in this unit must be relevant to and satisfy all of the requirements of the elements and performance criteria on at least one occasion and include:

assessing international freight transport security and safety risks

completing documentation and records related to planning and managing international freight transport security and safety

implementing contingency plans including when there is a breach of the security and safety procedures

implementing transport security and safety plans and policies

modifying activities depending on operational contingencies, risk situations and environments

monitoring and reviewing security and safety system performance

reporting and/or rectifying identified problems promptly, in accordance with regulatory requirements and workplace procedures

specifying international transport security and safety requirements.


Knowledge Evidence

Evidence required to demonstrate competence in this unit must be relevant to and satisfy all of the requirements of the elements and performance criteria and include knowledge of:

applicable legislation and regulations:

Australian and international regulations, conventions and codes of practice for the safe and secure international transport of freight

Australian and international standards and certification requirements

relevant Australian and international environmental protection legislation

relevant Australian and international transport security and safety legislation

relevant regulations for importing and exporting cargo

relevant regulations for international trading and financial transactions

business policies for security provision, including outsourcing components of operations and engaging additional resources

definition of safety in the context of an international freight transport supply chain

importance of security and safety in the international transport supply chain

insurance assessments

international and Australian transport security initiatives and regulations related to importing, exporting and transiting goods, including aviation and maritime security

licence and permit requirements relevant to international freight transport security and safety procedures

problems that may occur when planning and managing international freight transport security and safety, and action that can be taken to prevent or to resolve these problems

procedures for planning and managing international freight transport security and safety

regulations, conventions, codes of practice and legislative requirements relevant to planning and managing international freight transport security and safety procedures within a freight forwarder’s workplace and in other organisations in the international freight transport supply chain

relevant information and documentation
