Elements and Performance Criteria
- Identify equipment and power requirements
- Equipment for drilling, cutting and grinding is identified and matched to work applications
- Power and air supplies are identified for voltage, amperage, air pressure, lubrication and water separation
- Hazards are identified, risks are assessed and control measures are implemented
- Emergency shut-down procedures are identified and followed as required
- Appropriate workplace procedures and personal protective equipment are identified and used
- Set up equipment and complete pre-use checks
- Operate hand held air/power equipment
- Equipment is operated in accordance with manufacturer and/or workplace instructions
- Appropriate consumables including cooling and lubricating fluids are used as required
- Provision is made to deal with waste, off-cuts and other by-products
- Production techniques appropriate to task are followed to meet required outcome
- Finished materials are checked for conformity to quality/workplace standards
- Faults/problems with materials or equipment are identified and appropriate action is taken in accordance with workplace procedures
- Store equipment appropriately
- Finished materials are directed to storage area or next production stage
- Equipment is cleaned prior to storage
- Equipment that is damaged, unserviceable or requiring service is tagged and appropriate steps are taken to arrange repair
- Storage areas are maintained appropriately
- Workplace documentation and records are completed as required
