Elements and Performance Criteria
- Perform pre-operational equipment checks
- Detailed pre-operational equipment checks are conducted in accordance with manufacturer specifications and organisational procedures
- Logbooks are checked and completed in accordance with organisational requirements and manufacturer specifications
- Problems with equipment are identified and rectified in accordance with workplace procedures
- Identified problems are reported and documented in accordance with organisational procedures
- Obtain approval to place on track
- Protection officer is identified
- Protection officer or person in charge of work (PICOW) is contacted to obtain approval to place minor equipment on track, and to move to designated track at nominated location in accordance with organisational procedures
- Prepare, operate and monitor minor equipment on track
- Equipment is travelled to worksite or nominated signal/yard location
- Equipment is prepared for work
- Equipment is operated in a safe and efficient manner in accordance with relevant codes of practice, safeworking systems, and manufacturer and organisational procedures
- Equipment is operated in accordance with organisational standards and specifications
- Warning systems are monitored and responded to appropriately during operation
- Remove equipment from track
- Approval is requested from the protection officer or PICOW to direct when and where to off track equipment
- Equipment is propelled to nominated off-track location
- Protection officer or PICOW is contacted and informed that all equipment is off-tracked
- Equipment is left stored in appropriate manner and location to ensure its security and protection
- Perform post- operational equipment procedures
- Post-operational equipment checks are conducted to identify defects and maintenance requirements in accordance with manufacturer specifications and organisational procedures
- Identified problems are reported in accordance with organisational procedures
- Post-operating service schedule is performed in accordance with organisational procedures
- Complete documentation
- Logbooks are checked and completed accurately
- Documentation is completed accurately in accordance with organisational procedures
- Documentation is processed in accordance with organisational procedures
