Elements and Performance Criteria
- Prepare to test new gas installation
- Work instructions are received and confirmed to ensure clear understanding
- Relevant requirements and established procedures to be followed for the work are discussed with relevant persons to establish and confirm the work schedule
- WHS/OHS, environmental and sustainable energy policies and procedures are received and confirmed to ensure they are understood
- Hazards are identified, WHS/OHS risks assessed and control measures are prioritised, implemented and monitored according to established procedures
- Scope of responsibility under the relevant work permit/authorisation are received and confirmed with relevant persons according to requirements and established procedures
- Equipment, tools, resources, materials and personal protective equipment needed to conformance testing are identified, obtained and checked for correct operation and safety
- Relevant responsibilities associated with related work safety and emergency procedures at the worksite are confirmed in accordance with requirements and established procedures
- Appropriate persons are consulted to ensure the appliance relight is coordinated effectively with others involved
- Client issues are referred to appropriate persons in accordance with industry standards and established procedures
- Work site is preparation, safety plan and work schedule are confirmed in accordance with established procedures
- Test new gas installation
- WHS/OHS and risk control measures, schedule of work and standard operating procedures for carrying out the work are followed.
- Appropriate materials, tools, equipment and devices are selected and used correctly and safely.
- Operational knowledge for utilising correct and safe use of basic equipment and tools to perform conformance test is confirmed
- Conformance test of the new gas installation is undertaken s using appropriate pressure testing equipment and stray current testing and protection equipment following company procedures and State/Territory regulatory requirements
- Customer piping system and associated components including appliances are tested for conformance to AS5601 requirements
- Installation is left connected or disconnected depending on results of conformance test.
- Work is carried out efficiently, to the required quality standard without waste of materials or damage to apparatus, equipment, the surrounding environment or services and using sustainable energy principles.
- Hazard warnings and safety signs are recognised and hazards and assessed WHS/OHS risks are reported to the immediate authorised persons for directions according to established procedures
- Further instructions are sought from appropriate persons for unplanned events or conditions occurring
- Ongoing checks of quality of the work are undertaken in accordance with instructions and requirements
- Complete the work and relevant documentation
- Final checks including visual observation is performed to ensure the quality of the work complies with established
- Appropriate persons are notified of completion of the work
- Equipment, tools and any surplus resources and materials are cleaned, checked and stored securely or disposed of in accordance with established procedures
- Work area is tidied and made safe in accordance with given instructions and established procedures
- Work completion records and documentation are updated in accordance with instructions and established procedures as required in each state
