To achieve this qualification, competency must be demonstrated in:

17 units of competency:

11 core units

6 elective units.

The elective units must ensure the integrity of the AQF alignment and contribute to a valid, industry-supported vocational outcome and are to be chosen as follows:

a minimum of three units must be chosen from Group A

up to three units may be chosen from Group B

three of the six units may be chosen from other Certificate IV or Diploma qualifications in CPP, or another current Training Package or state-accredited course; with it being possible to choose one of those three units from a Certificate III qualification, provided the units do not duplicate the outcome of another unit chosen for the qualification.
