Learning Outcomes and Application This unit of competency describes the skills and knowledge required to develop a whole farm plan.All work must be carried out to comply with workplace procedures, work health and safety legislation and codes, and sustainability practices.This unit applies to individuals who take personal responsibility and exercise autonomy in undertaking complex work. They must analyse information and exercise judgement to complete a range of advanced skilled activities.No occupational licensing, legislative or certification requirements are known to apply to this unit at the time of publication.
Duration and Setting X weeks, nominally xx hours, delivered in a classroom/online/blended learning setting.

Competency is to be assessed in the workplace or simulated environment that accurately reflects performance in a real workplace setting.

Assessors must satisfy current standards for RTOs.

Element: Determine directions for the business
  • Establish long-term directions and purposes of the business through identification and analysis of the values, expectations and personal goals of the people involved
  • Identify business and personal strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats (SWOT)
  • Develop strategies to address the SWOT consistent with the business vision
       
Element: Audit the natural resources and infrastructure of the property
  • Identify and record physical characteristics of the soil resource
  • Produce a soil map of property and record land classes using classification terminology
  • Determine land capability and identify land management options for each land class
  • Show natural property features and infrastructure on property map
  • Identify areas at risk of soil degradation
  • Classify native vegetation and assess condition
  • Identify endangered species as appropriate
  • Identify other natural resource issues as appropriate
  • Identify infrastructure to assist with planning and maintenance

integrate business objectives and production plans with sustainable land management in a whole farm plan.
