Learning Outcomes and Application This unit of competency describes the skills and knowledge required to provide support to others undertaking landscape works in public, commercial and domestic situations. This unit applies to individuals who work under general supervision and exercise limited autonomy with some accountability for their own work. They undertake defined activities and work in a structured context.No occupational licensing, legislative or certification requirements are known to apply to this unit at the time of publication.
Duration and Setting X weeks, nominally xx hours, delivered in a classroom/online/blended learning setting.

Assessors must satisfy current standards for RTOs.

Elements of Competency Performance Criteria              
Element: Prepare materials, tools and equipment for landscaping work
  • Identify required materials, tools and equipment according to lists provided and supervisor's instructions
  • Check all materials, tools and equipment and tell supervisor if there are insufficient or faulty items
  • Use correct manual handling techniques when loading and unloading material to minimise damage to the materials and the vehicle
  • Select and maintain suitable personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Identify and report any workplace health and safety hazards to supervisor
       
Element: Undertake landscape work as directed
  • Follow instructions and directions provided by supervisor and ask for clarification when necessary
  • Communicate with other staff and clients in a positive and professional manner
  • Handle and dispose of materials as directed
  • Tell supervisor if there are problems or difficulties in completing work to required standards or timelines
       
Element: Handle materials and equipment
  • Store waste material and debris produced during landscape work in a designated area
  • Handle and transport materials, equipment and machinery
  • Maintain a clean and safe work site while undertaking landscaping activities
       
Element: Clean up on completion of landscaping work
  • Return materials to store or dispose of as directed
  • Clean, maintain and store tools and equipment
  • Restore site according to supervisor’s instructions
