Learning Outcomes and Application This unit describes the performance outcomes required to prepare, set up and test plant, tools, equipment, product and systems used to produce motor vehicles.It applies to those in an automotive manufacturing environment.No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.

  • Workplace procedures to test plant, tools, equipment, product or systems are identified and verified
  • Test instructions and workplace checklists are interpreted to identify processes and materials
  • Test equipment and plant tools are obtained according to work plans and workplace procedures
  • Test equipment and tools are prepared and calibrated according to standards, operating instructions and workplace procedures

  • Components are tested or cycled through test procedures according to test specifications
  • Evidence of wear, malfunction or out-of-tolerance adjustment is reported and necessary action is taken

  • Test results are interpreted to identify possible causes of malfunction or unserviceability
  • Further tests are conducted where required to determine causes of faults, malfunction or unserviceability

  • Corrective action is implemented according to workplace procedures
