Learning Outcomes and Application This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to plan and conduct community meetings the board initiates or facilitates.It applies to individuals who need to communicate with community members in their role of monitoring and guiding activities of the organisation.No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.

Element: Negotiate the basis of a meeting and plan event
  • Undertake consultation on purpose, location, date and time of proposed meeting with appropriate people
  • Develop a broad agenda and list of invited guests in consultation with appropriate people
  • Communicate details of meeting to the community, invited guests and other key people and groups
  • Plan transport and other arrangements to maximise attendance
  • Address requirements of people with special needs to ensure equity and access

  • Follow agenda and relevant meeting protocols
  • Acknowledge all points of view through appropriate meeting processes of discussion and documentation
