Learning Outcomes and Application This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to provide safe, timely and efficient transportation of people from one location to another at a particular site, or to other sites.This unit applies to workers in a range of settings where transporting people is a requirement of the work.The skills in this unit must be applied in accordance with Commonwealth and State/Territory legislation, Australian/New Zealand standards and industry codes of practice.
Duration and Setting X weeks, nominally xx hours, delivered in a classroom/online/blended learning setting.

Element: Prepare for transport
  • Confirm transport with relevant personnel
  • Check with the person to be transported, the level of support required
  • Explain procedure to the person or relevant personnel and answer any questions
  • Prepare for the safe and timely transportation of the person
  • Select transportation equipment and check to ensure that it is clean, complete and correctly functioning for transportation according to transportation requirements
  • Check any other equipment to ensure that it is attached correctly and safely to transportation equipment
       
Element: Transport the person and equipment
  • Transport the person to designated location in accordance with transportation requirements and organisation policy
  • Manoeuvre and transport equipment to ensure the person’s comfort and safety and minimise risk to self
       
Element: Deliver the person
  • Deliver the person to designated location and inform relevant personnel of the person’s arrival
  • Inform relevant personnel of the person’s needs
  • Return equipment used to deliver the person
  • Accurately complete reporting requirements
