Learning Outcomes and Application This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to work within the health care system and engage effectively with other health professionals, including writing referral reports.This unit applies to individuals working in health or community services who work autonomously with clients in the provision of services.The skills in this unit must be applied in accordance with Commonwealth and State/Territory legislation, Australian/New Zealand standards and industry codes of practice

  • Ensure referral occurs with consent of client and within confidentiality standards

  • Structure information logically, using language that will be understood by the report recipient
  • Make recommendations within scope of own practice and expertise
